Bobcat S66 Skid-Steer Loader: Specs, Review, & Availability

Bobcat S66 Skid-Steer Loader: Specs, Review, & Availability

If you’ve spent any time around skid-steers, you’ve probably seen an S66 in action. It’s one of the most common Bobcat loaders out there, and for good reason. It’s built for construction, landscaping, and farm work. If you’re upgrading from an S62, an S510, or another skid steer, or if you just need a rock-solid machine for everyday jobs, this skid-steer is a great choice. Here’s a breakdown of the Bobcat S66 specs, plus a firsthand look at how this loader has helped our customer Rocky Mountain Stonecrete.

Key Specs for the S66 Skid-Steer Loader

Key Specs for the S66 Skid-Steer Loader

Size and Maneuverability

One of the key selling points for the S66 is the size. It fits where bigger machines can’t while packing more power than your average small skid-steer. With a 120-inch bucket hinge pin height, it easily loads trucks and high-sided containers. At 68 inches wide, it moves through tight spaces with ease, and an 80.1-inch turning radius helps improve maneuvering.

Power Capabilities

Like any Bobcat R-Series loader, the S66 really shines on power. A 74-hp turbocharged engine makes a big difference, especially if you’ve been using a 55 or 68-hp engine for a while. The S66 will give you an extra push of power capabilities.

Unlike competing brands, the Bobcat S66 won’t lose power when you turn or use attachments. That’s because of Bobcat’s hydraulic routing. On machines like this, they use a higher static case pressure that feeds into a block, allowing fluid to divert smoothly. As a result, you can lift a full bucket without feeling the machine bog down.

Bob-Tach Mounting System Improvements

Bob-Tach™ comes standard with the Bobcat S66. This attachment mounting system has always been well-designed, but Bobcat improved it on their R-Series loaders by providing a stronger connection point with more metal, more openings for dirt to pass through, and fewer welds. With a Bob-Tach system, you can swap out attachments very quickly—no wrenches, just hook it up and get back to work.

Built for High Altitude Operations

The S66 is great for high-altitude work. Its four-wheel design excels on rocky, uneven terrain, especially if you optimize with Bobcat’s heavy-duty tires. Plus, it has a low center of gravity and a higher operating weight for its size class (7,154 lbs). That’ll give you more stability if you’re working on a steep slope.

Standard Equipment Features

The S66 is job-ready straight from the lot. Features include:

  • Bob-Tach Mounting System for quick attachment changes
  • 17.6 GPM auxiliary hydraulics (26.9 GPM with the high-flow option) to power attachments
  • LED work lights for extended working hours
  • Safety features like the Bobcat Interlock Control System (BICS), backup alarms, engine protection, and lift-arm support
  • Comfort features like an adjustable seat, a top window for better visibility, and a rear window for added safety

Available Upgrades for a Bobcat S66
