How The Bobcat Planer Attachment Works

Carbide-tipped bits are mounted on a revolving drum to cut and pulverize pavement material. After material has been milled, it leaves the planer housing through a rear opening.

Planer skis are used to adjust the angle and depth by moving the right and left ski up or down. Depth gauges are visible from the cab to provide a measurement reference of each ski depth. Bobcat planers have better visibility of the skis, so operators can easily control the path of the planer and the machine. Even on rough terrain, the planer skis maintain surface contact, resulting in a consistent cut depth.

Bobcat Planer Attachment Features

Hydraulic Oscillation

The planer housing oscillates as much as +/- 8 degrees to cut angles or match two uneven surfaces. With full fingertip control, you get easy adjustments from inside the cab for more comfortable work and great results.

Hydraulic Oscillating Float

These planers feature a self-leveling system that ensures consistent milling depth and angle control regardless of the ground contour or the loader’s movements. If the loader’s tires dip into a hole or depression, the planer will continue to cut evenly. The operator can switch between hydraulic oscillation and hydraulic oscillating float easily from inside the cab.

Independently Adjustable Skis

The independently adjustable skis ensure consistent ground contact. In-cab fingertip controls enable you to quickly adjust cutting depth. As you work with the planer, the skis stabilize contact with the cutting surface and help keep debris in the work area.

Hydraulic Side Shift

Side shifting allows operators to align the planer as required.

Optional Integrated Water Kit

The optional integrated water kit provides dust suppression and bit lubrication that maximize the bit's service life. With the water supply integrated right into the attachment, there's no need to install a water kit, which is ideal when you're using the attachment on multiple loaders.

Planer Drum

The planer drum is a one-piece concentric unit made for better durability and smooth cutting. The planer comes standard with a fast cut drum to optimize milling performance.

Priority Valve

The priority valve diverts oil-to-depth function without causing momentary loss of power to planer drum, allowing the operator to make adjustments on the go and without sacrificing the planer’s cutting power.

Direct-Drive Motors

With a direct-drive motor on one or both sides of the drum (depending on the model), you get increased torque force which also increases productivity and the life of the planer.
