How to Spot A/C Issues in Your Bobcat Skid-Steer Loader
Table of Contents
COMPACT TRACK AND SKID-STEER LOADERS’ MOST COMMON A/C ISSUES
Your work doesn’t slow down for a little heat. Neither should your Bobcat® loader’s A/C unit. At Bobcat of the Rockies, we have the A/C parts and service you need!
Learn more about identifying potential issues with your machine’s air conditioning system below.
ARE THE DRAIN VALVES BLOCKED?
Your Bobcat skid loader was made to withstand the most challenging working conditions, but the drain valves at the bottom of the A/C cover can’t dig out their own dirt.
Usually, these valves have a duck-bill shape that easily allows water to drain out of the cover. If the drain valves become plugged with dirt, water can no longer drain, causing a buildup of mud and fluid that will eventually freeze inside the coil. Long-story short: give the inside of your Bobcat loader a thorough cleaning to avoid expensive damage to the air conditioning system!
IS THE A/C SWITCH IN THE CAB FAULTY?
Sometimes, the answer to your A/C problems is staring back at you from the comfortable cab of your Bobcat compact track loader.
When you turn the A/C switch on and the green light shines dimmer than it used to, you are probably not getting good contact through the switch to the compressor. Whether your compressor is original to your machine or brand-new from Bobcat of the Rockies’s large stock of A/C parts, it cannot operate with a bad switch, leading to longer and hotter days on the job.
IS A WARNING CODE FLASHING?
If you’re looking for a machine code to indicate when there’s a problem with your Bobcat track or skid-steer loader’s A/C unit, you’re not going to find it.
Because your Bobcat loader’s A/C unit is independent from the actual machine, the brain of the system is in an automatic thermostat module (ATM), which is located by the air conditioning unit inside your loader. If your skid-steer is turned on, the A/C system is turned on, and the ATM light is on and solid, the thermostat is operating normally.
If the ATM’s light is flashing, you could have a problem with the temperature sensor or even with the clutch, which means it’s a good time to bring your Bobcat loader to one of Bobcat of the Rockies’s service experts!
